Our Work

    Abercrombie for Governor

The Abercrombie for Governor campaign understood the value of a well-developed and responsive strategic, integrated, multi-channel communications, marketing and outreach campaign amid a highly dynamic, changing environment.

Working closely with the core leadership team, volunteers and vendors, we were involved in nearly all aspects of the campaign’s communications, including: brand identity, advertising, website development, print collateral, direct marketing, voter and supporter data management, and grassroots movement. We created the campaign logo, the “Leadership We Can Trust” slogan, and select campaign messaging, applied data strategies in direct marketing and media placement, and assisted in developing competitive responses and fundraising strategies.

The campaign was highly effective in galvanizing support statewide, contributing to Neil Abercrombie’s resounding victories in the gubernatorial Primary Election (by 22 percentage points, winning all but four of 51 districts) and the General Election (by 17 percentage points, winning 50 of 51 districts).

    Kamehameha Schools

Olomana Marketing works with Kamehameha Schools (KS) in the areas of brand strategy, stakeholder engagement, data-driven direct response marketing and advertising. KS is a $7.2 billion private educational trust serving native Hawaiians. We have served as consultants to the CEO Team on organizational brand identity and positioning, and have partnered with various KS divisions on strategies to effectively communicate the brand and heighten stakeholder understanding and engagement.

We have provided assistance with targeted marketing and outreach through enterprise data-driven direct response marketing campaigns. The direct marketing programs that Olomana Marketing has developed for the school, including data validation campaigns and admissions recruitment and distance learning campaigns, have resulted in extremely high response rates, well above industry standards.

Additionally, we have produced a number of brand-centric TV spots promoting Kamehameha Schools overall as well as its Ho‘oulu Hawaiian Data Center. All of the work we have done supports the school’s mission and educational strategic plan.

    Bank of Hawaii

Since 2000, Olomana Marketing has worked with Bank of Hawaii, the largest independent financial institution in the state of Hawaii, and the company twice named by Forbes® magazine as “America’s Best Bank” (2011 and 2010).

Over the years, we've had the privilege of assisting Bank of Hawaii on a wide variety of projects and initiatives that encompass the areas of corporate and brand communications, direct marketing, internal communications and human resources. Some of the projects we’ve worked on include the bank’s summary annual report, community giving report, marketing collateral and HR recruitment.

The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

Olomana Marketing is working with The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center on a variety of integrated initiatives, including: brand positioning, corporate identity, marketing, communications, direct mail, constituent data management, public relations, stakeholder engagement, ‘friend-raising’ and fundraising.

Currently under construction on 15 acres in Kapolei, the 200,000-square-foot Kroc Center Hawaii will be the largest community center of its kind in Hawaii and will serve as a gathering place where people of all ages, from across the state, can come together for recreation, education, celebration and inspiration. It will offer: community education; afterschool, summer and early childhood education; a health and wellness center; an athletics center; an aquatics center; a worship and performing arts theater; banquet and conference facilities; an outdoor activity field; and a dormitory for traveling sports teams.

The center is being made possible by a $110 million grant bequest by the late Mrs. Joan Kroc, widow of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, and is one of nearly 30 Kroc Centers nationwide.

    Marukai Corporation

Olomana Marketing works with Marukai Wholesale Mart, a membership-based retailer and direct importer of Japanese-Asian foods and specialty products to market its two membership stores on Oahu, position its brand, and accelerate the growth of its membership base as well as increase sales revenues.

We utilize analytics on customer and membership preferences, buying patterns and behaviors to develop promotions, marketing and loyalty programs. We have helped Marukai develop, plan and implement its popular “Taste of Marukai” annual cultural and culinary fundraising event, now in its sixth year, which benefits Japanese cultural nonprofit organizations in Hawaii. We introduced multiple promotional programs including the highly successful Scratch and Save discount program which has become a semi-annual event.

In addition, we have assisted Marukai in developing and promoting its popular sake membership club, and launched several successful fun and engaging shopping promotions that encouraged members to shop and save.

    Maryknoll School

We partner with Maryknoll School—Hawaii’s largest co-educational K-12 Catholic school—in the areas of brand management, marketing, communications, fund development and public relations. Our work supports the school’s mission, vision, strategic plan, institutional advancement, admissions recruitment and retention, and stakeholder and alumni relations.

We had the privilege of assisting the school in its $12 million Capital Campaign and the Grand Opening of the multipurpose Maryknoll Community Center and Clarence T.C. Ching Gymnasium—the first gym in the school’s 80+ year history.

We have helped the school with: internal and external branding initiatives (including developing Maryknoll’s tagline, “Creating 21st century learners, leaders and citizens of character”); interactive stakeholder engagement campaigns (featuring email, websites, videos and social media); public relations campaigns; special videos (including the annual Kekumano Scholarship Award honoree video); advertising; admissions and program brochures and print collateral; and institutional advancement fund development initiatives.

    National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii

Olomana Marketing has worked with the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii (NKFH) on a variety of marketing and communication initiatives. One of the most noteworthy involved developing a groundbreaking, statewide awareness and education campaign to build physician knowledge and acceptance of a new indicator test for early-stage kidney disease and create demand for it among the general public and high-risk groups.

The GFR initiative involved partnering with physicians, health care centers, pharmaceuticals and medical insurers. We helped develop and implement the outreach strategy, which included physician meetings, an interactive website, physician brochure, direct mail, TV and radio PSAs, and bus posters.

As a result of the successful campaign: more patients were identified as having probable kidney disease, and physician GFR awareness enabled early intervention and treatment; the state’s largest medical insurer approved reimbursement coverage of chronic kidney disease clinics; NKFH saw a marked increase in inquiries about the GFR test; and Hawaii and NKFH received national and industry recognition for this first-of-its-kind effort.

  • The Essence of POGAS

Our work mantra is “POGAS,” which stands for: Purpose, Objectives, Goals, Actions and Standards. POGAS is an integral part of the way we do business, and we apply this guiding framework to every project we undertake.

Doing Business in the Digital Age

We embrace new communication technologies and often integrate digital media and social media in the work we do. Social media is a tool that can build a community of champions for your business, organization or cause. We take a “business” approach to social media, providing results-oriented, metrics-driven social network strategy to help you build buy-in among key influencers and stakeholders. Through social media business analytics, we'll help you monitor and measure influence and boost engagement and mobilization of your online communities.

We’re one of the few full-service agencies in Hawaii that offers in-house videography, web development and digital media production. This not only saves clients costs, but it also expedites time-sensitive projects while providing maximum control of the creative and production processes. We routinely optimize videos and other communications for social media and mobile distribution (e.g. websites, html email, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, QR codes, etc.)
